The Kriebel Companies are family owned businesses involved in the development of traditional shallow natural gas reserves. They operate over 1,700 wells in 10 Western Pennsylvania counties. In addition to offering investment opportunities, the Kriebel companies actively help landowners earn an income from the gas reserves located on their land.
The Challenge
The Kriebel Companies were not well-represented in search engines, only ranking in brand-based search results. When it came time to launch a new website, which we built for them, the decision was made to change their domain name – from kriebelgroup.com to kriebelcompanies.com. Without the proper care, this can turn into an SEO disaster, as any previously-attained search ranking may be lost in the transition.
Solution Overview
- Keyword research was done to determine volume, geographic location and competition.
- Service-based keywords were further refined with geo-targeted keywords to focus on Pennsylvania.
- Adjustments were made to key areas of the website and code to improve search engine visibility.
- Permanent redirects were created for the previous domain’s URLs to point at their matching counterparts.
Results
- In the first week, the new site had matched the SEO representation of the previous site.
- Kriebel Companies ranks in the very top position(s) for some targeted search terms.
